This week someone asked me why we’re significantly expanding the Commercial Practice at TALENTspy right now, of all times, and launching it with our new partner Melanie Kleemann.
Look at what’s happening in portfolios at the moment and it’s obvious where it hurts.
Yes, for the past few years almost everything revolved around the CFO. Cutting costs, protecting EBITDA, keeping interest costs under control. That mattered, no question. But honestly? In most companies there’s very little juice left in that lemon.
Value creation no longer comes for free. There’s no multiple expansion in sight, holding periods are getting longer and money remains expensive. The one lever that still works is organic growth at the customer interface.
And that’s exactly where a surprising number of mid-sized companies have a fire to put out.
Great products on the shelf, a lean cost base, but sales often still works the way it did ten years ago. Outdated pricing models, no CRM discipline, no use of data.
A lean cost base protects the margin. But the future is built on the revenue side.
That’s why we’ve taken this step: rather than relying on theory, we’ve brought hands-on operational experience in-house with a new partner. Because we can see that the market now needs exactly these commercial leaders, the ones who can genuinely transform sales.
