Director Post-Merger Integration (m/f/d) – Private Equity Portfolio Company

The company

Our client is a mid-cap private equity-backed portfolio company in the defense sector with €500+ million in revenue. In the context of an ambitious Buy-and-Build strategy across Europe, the group is expanding both organically and through targeted acquisitions.

They are looking to hire a Director Post-Merger Integration (m/f/d) who will take ownership of the integration of newly acquired entities, working closely with senior leadership and functional teams to ensure a seamless integration across financial, operational, and organizational dimensions. The role offers strong exposure to top management, the opportunity to shape the future platform as part of a highly dynamic growth environment, and a clear perspective to take on responsibility for a business unit over time.

Your tasks

• End-to-end integration of acquired companies (governance, processes, systems)
• Development and execution of integration roadmaps including synergy tracking and realization
• Financial alignment and performance steering (P&L integration, reporting, KPIs)
• Stakeholder management across group leadership, portfolio companies, and external partners
• Mid-term perspective to evolve into a broader leadership role within the group, with increasing strategic and operational responsibility

Your profile

• 5–10 years of professional experience with hands-on experience in post-merger integration
• Background in top-tier consulting, private equity, or corporate development
• Experience in industrial goods, automotive or adjacent manufacturing sectors (defense is a plus)
• Strong project management and execution capabilities with a hands-on mindset
• Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and drive alignment across functions
• Solid financial understanding including P&L, cash flow, and performance metrics
• Willingness to travel regularly and work closely with portfolio companies on-site
• Excellent German and English language skills
