Senior Project Manager (m/f/d) – IT Business Solutions – Focus: Underwriting

The group is working on topics today that will concern the whole of society tomorrow, whether that be climate change, major construction projects, gene technology or space travel.

The section IT Business Solutions RI P&C delivers business value through the management of IT products including execution of change projects. The team owns the key relationships (representing all IT service functions) with business units which underwrite or support Non-Life Reinsurance globally, including claims management.

To complement the team of recognized IT experts, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual. You will help to grow the global Underwriting application landscape together with the business in a highly changing IT landscape.

Your tasks

• Overall coordination of IT projects focusing to support Group`s Corporate Underwriting Department
• Responsibility for the definition, approach, facilitation & satisfactory completion of medium- or large-scale IT projects according to agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum/SAFe)
• Acting as Agile Coach/Project Manager for an agile development team including coordination/handling of the project backlog
• Accountability for creation of project charters and effort estimations within the scoping and budget approval process
• Initialization of IT projects according to approved project charters and particularly manage the staffing of the project team
• Transparent and consistent communication with the senior project stakeholders in Business and IT and achieving alignment with neighboring projects
• Accountability for project budget and reporting and delivery of project goals in time and budget
• Identification, assessment and management of risks and issues to the success of the project
• Coaching of more junior project management colleagues in the section

Your qualifications

• University degree, preferably in Computer Engineering / IT or similar qualification
• Several years of experience in IT project management either in management consulting or (re-)insurance, preferably in application development and hence in-depth knowledge of the processes of the entire software development and product life cycle
• Demonstrable experience in large-scale agile project management methodologies
• Excellent communication skills, strong experience in the management of diverging interests of various senior stakeholders, ability to set strategy and priorities in a pragmatic and efficient way combined with profound cost consciousness
• Track record of successful implementations that delivered value to the business, resulting in measurable business outcomes
• Consulting and collaborative working style creating a culture of accountability and sharing
• High degree of commitment and the willingness and ability to master the various tasks are essential
• Good understanding of Underwriting and/or RI core business processes
• Experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, Backlogs, etc.) or similar tools
• Fluent command of German (nice to have) and Business English
